Preschool Information

Program Specifications:

Calendar Dates:

  • August – May (aligns with school calendar)
  • Program will be cancelled for the day if school is cancelled.
  • If there is an early dismissal due to dangrous weather conditions, PM preschool will be cancelled for the day.
  • On days when there is a late start due to weather conditions, there will be no AM preschool.
  • Missed preschool days due to weather will be made up as scheduled by the preschool teacher.  The make-up session will occur on a Wednesday or added to the end of the school year.

Time:

  • Monday – Thursday,
    • AM Session: 8:30 – 11:30 
    • PM Session: 12:20 - 3:20
  • Students may arrive no earlier than 8:20 AM & 12:10. 

Monthly Cost:

  • Free tuition for students taking part in the 4-year old preschool program.  (Must turn 4 on or before September 15 of current school year)
  • Students turning 4 on or before January 1 of the following year but after September 15 are eligble for our 3-year old tuition based preschool program
    • ​Cost is $200.00 per month for 3-year-old students for the duration of the school year.

Registration/Supplies Fee:

  • $50.00 total ($20.00 registration/$30.00 supply fee) payable by August 1 at the superintendent's office in Maxwell.
  • The teacher will make daily snack arrangements.

Transportation:

  • Parents are to provide transportation to and from the program.

Other Information:

  • Students must be four years old by September 15 and potty trained unless
    an exception is made through an IEP.
  • Enrollment will be limited to 20 students per section. There is a morning and an afternoon section.
  • The preschool is located at Collins-Maxwell Elementary.

    Looking for Silver Cord hours?

    Summer Harrison Barnes Reading Academy program that will be in 10 different locations this year, including Ames, Nevada, Huxley, Colo, and Story City. Harrison Barnes Reading Academy will run from June 15th through July 23rd. Works with students K-3 to prevent what is referred to as the "summer slide" or regression in the proficiency of reading and literacy skills over the summer break. Volunteers engage in reading and writing activities and games with students 2x/week for 45 minutes at a time over the course of 6 weeks.

     

    The Belin-Blank Center is excited to announce that applications for  summer programming are now open! Summer programs take students on a deep dive into a topic of their choice with other bright kids like them and offer a wide range of rigorous classes to choose from, and most importantly, they are lots of fun! Programs include commuter and residential options for students in grades 2-11 in areas such as science, technology, math, art, writing, and leadership. They take place on the University of Iowa campus, giving students access to valuable university-level resources and experts. Participation in a school’s gifted program is not required. Payment plans and financial aid are available. Programs include:


    *   Junior Scholars Academy (grades 2-8) 
    *   Blank Summer Institute (grades 6-8; student must be nominated by a teacher) 
    *   Perry Research Scholars Institute (grades 9-10) 
    *   Secondary Student Training Program (grades 10-11) 
    *   Summer Art Residency (grades 9-12) 
    *   Summer Writing Residency (grades 9-12)
