    Elementary Carnival SOS: Because the basketball game was scheduled for the 21st also, the elementary school is VERY short on voluteers for the carnival.  PLEASE SIGN UP IN THE OFFICE!


    Kindness Week Dress Up

    Friday – Share the Spirit of Kindness (Spartan Gear!)


    The MS Formal is rescheduled for Friday, February 28 from 6-8pm in the small gym at the MS/HS building. The theme for the dance is "Under the Sea" and since it is a formal, students should dress up*, however, dress code must be followed (please refer to the handbook). Students will also need to be eligible to attend the dance and regular eligibility rules will be followed.

    The cost for the dance is $3 per person and snacks will be provided. If you would like to donate food or help with the snacks that evening, please use the Sign-Up Genius link MS Formal Sign Up Genius Link or email Melissa Robinson (merobinson@collins-maxwell.k12.ia.us).

    *Still in need of a dress or clothing for the winter dance? Mrs Staudt has a big supply of formal wear!

    The FCCLA kids are having a Board Game and Craft Supply Drive to benefit Iowa Children's Hospitals. If you are interested in donating, I have included a list of in-demand items. Donations can be dropped off to my classroom prior to March 13th. Let me know if you have any questions!

    *Because of infection control policies, we are unable to accept used and crocheted items. We can only accept new items in their original packaging, NOT gently used items. Craft supplies such as glue and paint must be non-toxic.

    The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is now accepting entries for the 2020 Iowa Federal Junior Duck Stamp art contest.  The national winner receives $1,000. The second-place winner receives $500; the third-place winner receives $200; the Conservation Message winner receives $200. Entries must be postmarked by March 15.  For more information go

    If you have not already done so please get your graduation orders from Jostens completed:  Please send these directly to Jostens at the contact information listed on the order form.  Do not return these to the school.


    Collins-Maxwell baseball registration is now open.  Any 3rd-6th grade boy interested in baseball needs to sign up online at: https://www.centraliowarecleague.org/northstory

    Fees can be done online or sent into the Elementary office or the CM rec board.

    All other grade registration for softball & baseball will need to turn in a registration form to the Elementary office.  Extra forms can be picked up in either building’s office.


    The Belin-Blank Center is excited to announce that applications for  summer programming are now open! Summer programs take students on a deep dive into a topic of their choice with other bright kids like them and offer a wide range of rigorous classes to choose from, and most importantly, they are lots of fun! Programs include commuter and residential options for students in grades 2-11 in areas such as science, technology, math, art, writing, and leadership. They take place on the University of Iowa campus, giving students access to valuable university-level resources and experts. Participation in a school’s gifted program is not required. Payment plans and financial aid are available. Programs include:

    *   Junior Scholars Academy (grades 2-8) 
    *   Blank Summer Institute (grades 6-8; student must be nominated by a teacher) 
    *   Perry Research Scholars Institute (grades 9-10) 
    *   Secondary Student Training Program (grades 10-11) 
    *   Summer Art Residency (grades 9-12) 
    *   Summer Writing Residency (grades 9-12)


    The Food Pantry needs your help. We are looking for volunteers to help set up and pass out food on these days. HS students, this would be a great time to receive Silver Cord hours. Teams and clubs are welcome to help as well.

    Food Pantry Hours: 3:30-6:00 (2nd & 4th Wednesdays of the month) Use Door #5

    Set up starts at 3:00 and usually takes about 20 minutes.

Shifts are after school until 8:00 PM 1-2 evenings a week and occasional day time hours on Saturdays.
